Lecture: “Evaluating Roof Structures for Photovoltaic (PV) Installation“

For the acquisition of a PV plant, the load-bearing capacity of the existing roof structure must be assessed, reinforced if necessary, and the additional effects of snow and wind loads according to the Eurocodes must be considered in addition to the PV plant load.

Lecture: “The concerns of reinforcing the prestressed trusses with steel pull rods“

The lecture will deal with the issue of reinforcing prestressed roof trusses whose prestressed reinforcement is damaged by corrosion. The method of reinforcement was developed by the workers of Rada Building, s.r.o. The lecture is based on the experience with consultations and supervision of projects realized by Rada Building, s.r.o.

Ing. Petr Pospíšil

Lecture: „A Structural Engineer’s Role in Assessing Dangerous Structures“

In my lecture, I will introduce the participants to general procedures for building reconstruction, changes of use, additional loading/unloading of structures, or for already visible undesirable manifestations in structures or risky structures without manifestations.

Prof. Ing. Martin Moravčík, PhD.

Head of the Department of Concrete Structures and Bridges, UNIZA

Within the framework of scientific and expert activities he is engaged in research in the field of reliability of prestressed structures and bridges. In addition to the design and modelling of structures, he mainly focuses on the development and application of analytical and experimental methods used in the diagnosis, monitoring and reliability assessment of prestressed structures. Works published at home and abroad in WOS and Scopus databases, OrcID: 0000-0003-4472-4185. Participated in the implementation of European standards for the design of concrete bridges into the system of Slovak standards.

He is the author of the monograph “Design of prestressed structures according to European standards”, as an example of professional focus is documented by the award “Building of the Year 2018”, which he received as a member of the research team for a unique technical solution.

Lecture: Analyzing emergency states of selected prestressed bridges in Slovakia

The paper will deal with a detailed analysis of the failure conditions of selected prestressed bridges in Slovakia, which were built in the 50’s and 60’s, and which occurred in the years (2015 – 2020). The bridges concerned will be first generation precast bar bridges and segmental bridges.

Lecture: Application of indirect methods to determine the current level of prestress in the structure

Problematic prestressed bridge structures have been in service for more than sixty years, and thus knowledge of the current state of their prestress is an essential input for any structural calculation. This fact leads to the need to verify the possibility of using several methods to determine the current value of prestressing force over time. The paper will take the analysis of prestressing using so-called indirect, analytical-experimental methods, e.g. the stress relaxation method (Saw-cut Method). Or the structural response method (Structural Response Method).

Lecture: “Diagnostics and Structural Surveys of Roof Structures: Fundamental for Structural Analysis“

The installation of a PV plant on an existing roof structure is a significant intervention in the building’s support system and requires a structural analysis of the support structure. In order to make an objective and above all correct structural assessment, the structural engineer needs a lot of information. It can be drawn from available project documentation, which is often incomplete or not preserved at all. n such cases, it is necessary to carry out a structural engineering survey of the structure, which currently has a number of modern non-destructive or semi-destructive methods at its disposal. In my lecture, I will share my experience from a number of surveys carried out and introduce building owners to the procedures used in the diagnosis of building structures.
