In December 2018, the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians issued the following press release in response to a series of serious structural collapses involving prestressed reinforced concrete roof trusses in an industrial hall located in western Bohemia.
“Given the recurring nature of these collapses, it is highly probable that this technological failure is not limited to trusses at this particular facility alone but might also be a concern for trusses of the same type at various facilities across the country. The repeated structural failures highlight the need for a systemic approach in addressing this recurring defect.”
